These days, the world of weight loss and dieting are already offering a plethora of options. There have been some studies where people who are obese or overweight get results after being subjected to a popular weight loss program, but the real question lies in whether the diet is practical in causing long term change in habits which will sustain the weight that was lost. Examples of these weight loss programs that are gaining popularity online are Atkins, Zone diet, Ornish and many more.
There have been several established facts about diet and weight loss that have been compiled through a combination of experience and scientific studies over the years. Sometimes things that look perfect on paper don't work out very well in real life, sometimes things produce great results in real life but science can't explain very clearly what is going on or what caused the great results.
One dieting fact is that people should avoid snacking or reward food for their cravings as it is a major weight gain contributor. But the truth is removing these treat foods will only cause depression in the end due to feelings of deprivation. This depression will then result to binge eating and weight gain.
Removing treats, starving and skipping meals are also not the best answer to weight loss. Again, being deprived of foods a person craves will only lead to binge eating once the person can't tolerate it anymore.
Talking about skipping meals, many people continuously miss their breakfast. But there has been a studies showing that people who don't skip breakfast have a smaller chance of becoming obese.
Green tea has been proven to be a good antioxidant for the body. It contains EGCG which has been shown to increase Resting Metabolic Rate significantly(up to 10 or 15%). Fish oil is another example of a supplement that is almost a cure-all (as much as I hate saying that word). They are finding new things every year that fish oil is good for and how it benefits the body. One study done recently showed that fish oil taken in normal adults increased Resting Metabolic Rate by up to 400 calories a day. Although not all fish oils are created equal and the drugstore brand may not fetch these same results.
There are also a lot of products that claim to increase the metabolic rate in the body. Some work and some don't, some have studies backing them and some don't....as with anything do research on your own before purchasing a supplement to enhance fat burning.
